What is Eczema?
Eczema is considered to be a medical condition in which patches of skin become rough and inflamed. This can include blisters that cause itching and bleeding, sometimes resulting from a reaction to irritation (eczematous dermatitis) but more typically having no obvious external cause.
Managing Symptoms of Eczema
While we first suggest that you talk to your doctor about oral or topical prescriptions, you can also consider using an herbal therapy such as calendula oil or cream for eczema. "Calendula appears to have anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antibacterial effects," the University of Maryland Medical Center notes. According to the UMMC, “topical applications containing calendula show some evidence of helping sooth the irritation and itching of eczema, as well as to boost healing.”
To find out if this calendula might be a good solution for your eczema we first suggest speaking with you doctor. If you decide to give a natural solution like calendula cream a try, we suggest trying our original calendula product; My Girls Skin Care.
What is Psoriasis?
While the exact cause of psoriasis isn't fully understood, scientists believe psoriasis is the result of several factors, including the immune system. When you have psoriasis, your immune system is overactive. This creates inflammation inside the body, which is a cause of the symptoms you see on the skin.
Psoriasis is not currently curable. However, it can go into remission, producing an entirely normal skin surface. Today, research is making progress on better treatments and possible cures. Moisturize affected dry skin areas as they are more susceptible to outbreaks of psoriasis and keep your skin well lubricated. Calendula creams such as our 6.8 oz tub, 5 oz tube and 3.4 oz jar are good choices to keep symptoms under control. Avoid lightweight lotions, which don't contain enough emollient ingredients to soothe and calm the skin.
When to Seek Professional help?
If you have any symptoms related to a skin dermatitis, it’s important to know when you should seek professional treatment. For example, we recommend consulting your dermatologist if:
You’re irritated to the point where you’re having issues sleeping, working, or performing other daily activities due to itching.
Your skin is constantly in pain.
You feel as though you may be experiencing a skin infection.
You’ve tried several at-home remedies with no success.
